This picture was taken by the beach on a windy day. Many people were taking advantage of the weather and were out flying their kites and it filled the sky like decorations. The kites ranged from normal triangle shapes to kites in the shapes of an octopus. Despite all of the other kites, these three stood out to me the most because they were the most still and were aligned perfectly. Fortunately, I had my camera with me, so I was able to capture the kites from a variety of angles. In addition, the white kite was intriguing, because I've never seen one before.
1/17/2016 0 Comments Letters of the WorldMy letters of the world is composed of my USB stick, Sharpies, and headphones. My original plan was to compose a word with nature, but I resorted to marking letters with everyday objects. I chose the word Nike because it is one of my favorite sport's brand.
1/10/2016 3 Comments Jack frostIt was a fairly warm day, but because it was winter; the night was very cool. I was sitting on the ledge of a boxed in wooden garden, when I took a look inside. There were patches of frost, where the sun had not reached, and I knew right away it was perfect for this week's Jack Frost theme. I adore the whiteness of the frost and the cleanliness look it gives. It seems as if that little area is a whole other world, compared to the rest. I also love the framing, as the green unfrosted leaves really accentuate the frost.
I really wanted to capture an "in the air" photo and I'm really liking the way this photo turned out. I made my friend do this jump a few times to capture it from an angle that made it seem as if she was higher in the air. I like how this picture is very detailed and not blurry even though she is jumping. It really looks as if she's just hanging mid-air. Her face expression is also a major factor in the overall vibe of the image, which is very fun and carefree.
12/6/2015 0 Comments Snow WhiteI had a lot of fun taking this picture of my little sitter. She was very excited and eager towards the fairytale photo shoot. I had the idea of replicating the iconic Snow White scene, and I'm happy that my sister helped me bring this to life. It took a few tries to get the perfect shot of the apple slipping from her hands but overall I'm proud of the way it turned out. My sister's dress makes the image more fairytale like as it is unusual but has a magical feel to it.
11/22/2015 greensI love the depth of field in this picture. I'm really proud of the amount of detail I captured in this picture in this picture. Every single strand of the bush is captured in such detail. My most favourite thing about this picture is how the left side is in focus and is descending down to the right, it fades into a soft blurry background. I turned up the exposure a slight bit to accentuate the greenness even more. I also think that the lighting was perfect for this picture as I took it on a grey, cloudy day.
11/15/2015 architectureI was in downtown with a friend and had no intention of taking any photos. However, as I was crossing the street I looked up at this tall, tinted glass building in admiration and decided to snap a picture. I love the sharp edge cutting right in the middle of the building; making it look edgy modern. From down below, it almost looks as if it is two triangles put together, which I find very cool. The blue sky goes very well as the background and the thin clouds add a nice contrast. In a way, it looks so subcluded from the world because it has black tinted windows, however the open rectangular windows show signs of habitation.
11/8/2015 simplicityI really like how orange and blue complement each other so well; making every detail standout. The leaves had naturally fallen on top of the blue electrical box so beautifully, there wasn't any need to make adjustments. Even the graffiti on top enhances the orange leaves. I put the F-stop very low so near objects would be in focus and it had worked just as I wanted. The faded background is bright but subtle, massively aiding the photo overall. There are only two simple subjects in this photo yet so detailed. This is one of my favourite photos that I have taken for weekly photo challenges.
11/1/2015 ghostHalloween is all about the spook and creepiness. I really like how the white face is lit, making it the center of attention and the black eyes pop out, adding a nice detail. I used the rule of thirds and that made the photo even better. The light shining from the ghost's face shines on certain parts of the spider web, making it visible. Due to the angles and the spider web being thick, it makes it look as if it is trapping the ghosts face, adding the creepy effect.
10/25/2015 0 Comments reachingWhen I think of worms eye view, great scales come to mind. Worms crave moisture and anything wet will attract them as it is a necessity for their survival. I was testing out different angles in the grass and this is my best out of them all. I think that the diversity in this picture with the focused droplet in the distance and blurry nearside creates a nice contrast. I like how the unfocused grass around the edges frames the droplet, putting it under the spotlight.
